Eight people have been arrested for the BRUTAL murder of a suspected loan shark who was murdered by a mob in Saselamani, Limpopo.
THE LOAN SHARK HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH THE DISAPPEARANCE OF A MAN
Police spokesman Lt. Col. Mamphaswa Seabi said the incident happened last week.
“Police received a complaint about a vigilante incident in said village in which a mob intended to burn down the house of a 37-year-old woman suspected of being a pawnbroker (Loan Shark or Mashonisa).”
Seabi said the mob accused the woman of being responsible for the disappearance of a local man who allegedly disappeared two weeks ago before the incident.
THE WOMAN WAS ATTACHED TO HER VEHICLE AND DRAWN
“Police rushed to the scene and found the mob had tied the woman to her motor vehicle and dragged her into the bushes. The crowd then began throwing stones at the officers as they tried to search for the woman.
Seabi said the crowd was dispersed and police managed to rescue the woman, who was tied up and dragged with a motor vehicle between the villages of Salema and Xikundu.
“Subsequently, the mob set fire to the woman’s house and damaged a Toyota motor vehicle, both valued at R200,000. The woman was later rushed to Malamulele Hospital but later succumbed to her injuries on arrival. »
The victim was identified as Basani Portia Shuma from Salema village.
