Chandigarh: Sector 21 man loses Rs 9K in loan fraud: The Tribune India

Chandīgarh: A resident of Sector 21 was tricked out of Rs 9,045 on the pretext of granting a loan. Complainant Arvind Kumar reported that an unidentified person defrauded him by making him download an app under the guise of giving him a loan. A case was registered under Sections 384, 420, 468, 471, 509 and 120-B of the CPI at the Cybercrime Police Station. TNS

Fly home to Mauli Jagran

Chandīgarh: A theft has been reported from a home in Mauli Jagran. Complainant Raghav Ram reported that an unknown person stole gold jewelry and Rs 1 lakh from his house. One case has been recorded. TNS

IAF veteran commemorated

Chandīgarh: The family of Sqn Ldr Jasbir Singh Gill (Retired) held a prayer service in his memory on Sunday. He breathed his last on August 18. Unknown to most, they were the first group of navigators to be commissioned into the IAF in 1946 and a veteran of UN operations in the Congo in 1962. Gill was appointed acting pilot officer in 1946. In 1965 , he joined Air India, from where he retired in 1982 and settled in Chandigarh. Recently, he decided to move to New Zealand. TNS

ICAI organizes a seminar

Chandīgarh: The Institute of Cost Accountants of India held a seminar on professional opportunities for cost and management accountants in the MSME sector, including a discussion on late payments to MSME suppliers and tariff setting regulations – airports and electricity sector. The seminar was organized by the Internal Auditing and Assurance Standards Board and the Institute’s MSME and Startup Working Group in association with the Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali Section of the Sector Institute 17. 2 plays written by a teenager staged

Chandīgarh: Artists from the city’s performing arts society, The Narrators, staged two plays – ‘The Emptiness Inside the Heart’ and ‘Twelve Apples’ – from teenage Nikasha Luthra’s book ‘The Flowers in Her Room”, which is a collection of short plays, at the Mini Tagore Theater in Sector 18. Theatrical performances were directed by Nikasha’s mother, Nisha Luthra, who is also the founder of The Narrators. TNS

Half-marathon in town on September 25

Chandīgarh: The Tuffman Chandigarh Half Marathon, “Green Run”, will be held here on September 25. Runners from different walks of life will participate in races of 21 km, 10 km, 5 km and 3 km. Caroline Rowett, British Deputy High Commissioner to Chandigarh, launched the T-shirt.
